In conjunction with the coaching staff of the Swedish Elks, AFL Sweden recruited a new team manager for the Swedish national team and he is no nobody to the game and footy in Sweden. No other than co-founder of the oldest team in Sweden, Ingmar 'Terry' Lundquist will take over the role from club mate Andy Svensson.
"It is with great pleasure that we can announce Terry as a team manager and we wish him best of luck in his new role. Terry has done tremendous work for the development of footy in Sweden throughout the years and I am sure that he will help in reaching new goals for the Elks," says AFL Sweden president Jörg Pareigis. The timing could not have been better - it is Terry's birthday today and we congratulate him to his big day!
Terry's contributions to Australian Football in Sweden are many. Just to mention a few, in 1993, he founded together with Joacim Aulin the first team in Sweden. He is probably the most experienced umpire with more than 100 games and maintains footyrecords and homepages with great detail and passion. If he puts just a percentage of this passion for footy to the development of the Elks, the team surely should reach new heights.
AFL Sweden would also like to thank Andy Svensson for filling the role temporarily. He will now fully focus on his role as a national team player.
