The official body for Australian Football in Sweden

In conjunction with the coaching staff of the Swedish Elks, AFL Sweden recruited a new team manager for the Swedish national team and he is no nobody to the game and footy in Sweden. No other than co-founder of the oldest team in Sweden, Ingmar 'Terry' Lundquist will take over the role from club mate Andy Svensson.

"It is with great pleasure that we can announce Terry as a team manager and we wish him best of luck in his new role. Terry has done tremendous work for the development of footy in Sweden throughout the years and I am sure that he will help in reaching new goals for the Elks," says AFL Sweden president Jörg Pareigis. The timing could not have been better - it is Terry's birthday today and we congratulate him to his big day!

For some time now, Eurosport 2 broadcasts AFL matches live. Now, Eurosport 2 broadcasts AFL live with Swedish commentaries! In cooperation with AFL Sweden, Eurosport 2 recruited Michael Nabb and Jonathan Briscoe from Stockholm as commentators. Both of them do a tremendous job!

During the Swedish Cup in Gothenburg last Saturday, AFL Sweden held its sponsor lottery. From the seven lottery tickets sold, one gold sponsor and two silver sponsors have been drawn. AFL Sweden proudly presents Cherick Transport as gold and Arterion as well as W&Å Bygg as silver sponsor. 

As gold sponsor, Cherick Transport will have their logo printed on the national team jumpers and track suits. The silver sponsor will have their logo printed on the national team shorts and track suits.

All sponsors will receive a framed picture of the national team, the Swedish Elks, as well as a team mascot and their logo presented on the AFL Sweden homepage.

This summer from August 1 to August 7, the first ever European Championships in Australian Football will take place in Malmö and Copenhagen. The Swedish Elks will take on the best teams in Europe. On Sunday, June 6 - the Swedish National Day - the squad has been announced that will have the honour to represent Sweden.

For this landmark event in Swedish footy, head coach Daniel McClaer will brings a concept from the Danish League over the bridge to Sweden. "This is the first time ever that we have to do a proper selection process for the Swedish national team. We want to give this event the proper framing and will produce the first AFL Sweden footy show and announce the squad in this way." When being asked about the team, he says "The majority of players are coming from the test on May, 15 in Stockholm, but there are some new faces as well". Who made the team? Watch yourself!
